What MWs and experts are saying about WineTutor.tv
I watched your WineTutor TV on the bus to work through 2018-2019 to prepare for my theory exams - they were short, informative and very helpful with mind mapping and remembering the influences on different winemaking process, they really were excellent.
Your Wine Tutor TV videos were hugely helpful in my first year. What an amazing initiative on your part. I am sure that many students will thank you for your efforts.
Your videos really helped me to re-focus on getting ready for the exams themselves when I was overwhelmed by all the individual syllabus topics. It’s easy to get lost and bogged down in hundreds of articles about one small topic, but the wine tutor videos put it all back in the wider perspective and make preparing for an essay topic much more manageable.
Winetutor.tv was a great help in passing the MW exams, in addition to a steady diet of practice tasting exams and theory essays, studying books and websites, interviewing viticulturists, winemakers and operations people, and hands-on experience across various facets of the industry. The MW process requires students to assimilate some very complex concepts, and your videos help to make some very important ones clear and understandable. I had many ah-hah moments watching them, and I constantly encourage all of the students in the California study group to watch them over and over. Thank you for this great study resource Tim!
Nicely done, Tim. I like the concept and delivery a lot. Core issues, well handled.
You are a natural performer, and a great teacher. Beautifully and imaginatively presented, crystal clear, very thorough, and utterly engaging. Huge congratulations to you and the team. I can imagine the thought and the effort behind it all. The Institute themselves should have been doing something like this years ago!
Excellent tool for MW students to dip into on many aspects of the course -- I will certainly forward the link to my mentees.
WineTutor.tv should be a great help to students.
Wine Tutor TV. looks great and I enjoyed dipping into it. Your intro video is terribly well written and comes across really well. Good luck with it.
I believe your work will help potential and current MW students to appreciate the depth and breadth of study required, whilst the short and concise format is what todays students need.
Just luv winetutor.tv... short, snappy, incisive and informative, fun injections of wine knowledge...and, you don't have to be a MW student to get your fix.
Wine Tutor is a fantastic resource -- I wish such a thing had been available when I was studying.
Well done to Tim and team for helping to demystify the process.
WineTutor.tv is very good and easy to understand.
I could imagine myself when I was a student happily watching them while studying.
It would have been helpful in finding the shortcuts to learning things.
WineTV is a fun, visual way to understand the principles of some of the most complex questions posed in the Master of Wine Exam.
A fantastic resource to any MW student or indeed anyone interested in learning more about wine.
WineTutor TV is a well presented, engaging, interesting and original way of making pertinent parts of the MW programme accessible and understandable for students and bringing the syllabus to life.
Your videos are great!
Brilliant way to make self study more approachable, and the exam technique parts are essential viewing for anyone on the programme.
Will definitely be recommending to MW students!
Hundreds of students stand to benefit from this resource, there is lots of great advice there
I hope it will be a great success, and it is on the way to becoming one.
The inside track on how to approach the formidable MW course, delivered with clarity, concision -- and wit.
I wish had had WineTutor.tv when I was studying for my MW!
It's packed full of useful insights into how to make your studies more effective.
These are delivered in brief, pithy films that are entertaining and memorable. I've been recommending the site to all my mentees and pretty much any other student who'll listen.
These videos will be watched by MW students the world over time and time again. They're a great resource that helps make the program seem achievable by breaking this huge project down into simple pieces. The wine world has long needed videos like these.
Congratulations to Tim for his Winetutor TV project.
It is extremely innovative, short and snappy and very helpful for students of the Master of Wine.
When, through a friend, I discovered Tim's website, I immediately enjoyed watching the videos. A huge bravo for such superb videos!
Without your videos I don't think I would have passed. You provided so many amazing tips on how to handle the theory and practical that things just started to gel. You are on my short list of people, without whom passing the exam for me would have been impossible.
What the students are saying about WineTutor.tv
I can honestly say it was the most useful, practical and hands-on advice I could have wished for. I now feel that I have the necessary tools to make this a success, and feel once again motivated and confident.
It was great! I found that you shared a lot of useful insight from the student perspective. I got a lot of strategies and techniques that I can actually use for the exam.
I am an MW student since 2020, which is a quite challenging year to study & connect with other MW students or MWs compared to before. Tim's website and webinars have been extremely helpful. He understands the exams and he is insightful and efficient to tutor students. Tim is also well connected in the global wine industry. And he gives us nice professional advice to exprience our MW study journey along with other fellow students and MWs. Highly recommend for those who struggle with exam preparations. Or just take the great content Tim has to save our valuble time for other exciting tasks!
An eye-opening experience, Tim’s classes are full of resources, step-by-step processes, a truly practical approach that genuinely helped in so many ways! A confidence builder. Thank you for doing this.
English is not my first language so it might be sometimes very difficult for me to write beautiful essays. The way you lead us is very smart and I think you are the only one who showed me the end of the tunnel in the program! I definitely get the direction how to pass the exam. It is not only study hard but study smart at least I have got an idea now.
You have a natural teaching ability and genuine excitement for the subject, the combination of which is sadly rare. While I do believe it takes effort to look effortless, it is reassuring to witness someone cut through the crap and approach the essay answer process so deftly and lightly.
Binge watching these amazing videos. Thank you for the amazing content! It has been a great help, with 2 months to go it is just the refocusing I needed.
I think this is an amazing guideline for every MW student to better focus on what to learn and how to study.
Hard to believe it's free!
WineTutor.tv is a serious tool for MW students.
Tim is an inspired and very talented communicator which makes things easier to understand. A truly very approachable way of learning, very serious but also funny and enjoyable. A picture is worth a thousand words.
Absolutely great stuff.
I absolutely love the content on Wine Tutor TV.
I am so appreciative of the approachable, engaging, and informative segments, and the insider tips for success.
Great work! I am a stage 2 MW student and winetutor.tv video's are essential for distilling only the relevant concepts and framing different exam techniques in a tidy 2-4min film.
It allows me to save what would otherwise be time wasted in study experimentation.
Your videos are helping me to reinforce semminars I have attended in the past and also to develop my critical thinking.
It is very useful using the white board method, it is very intuitive and help me taking notes.
You're videos are great! Very educational while being easy to follow.
I have been promoting them to my entire wine team (9 Sommeliers) here at Mandalay Bay and have had some great feedback from them.
I find this to be an outstanding resource. Last year I attended the MW information day in Sydney.
I understand that the program of study is largely self-guided and this has made me somewhat reluctant to sign up.
WineTutor.tv has given me confidence to change my position.
You have put so much effort in expressing your desire of seeing more Masters of Wine around the globe.
Your 'down to earth way' of communication is quite polite, your analogies and enlightening examples are quite colourful, not to mention that you make feel all students welcome from the word go.
I am a fan of your site and I look forward to keep learning more using Winetutor TV.
Not only are they helpful but they are a welcome break from the hard graft of "regular" study.
I am a Diploma holder who is currently applying to be an MW student. I just want to tell you how invaluable your wine tutor tv website is. Thanks so much for doing this. I didn't realize til a few months ago that I could also register ( thought it was only for MW candidates) , great info. Once again, thank you
THE "HOW TO PASS" WEBINARS
It was the most valuable discussion relating to the program that I've had to date. Your advice was incisive and refreshingly fundamental. I now feel I have a definite pathway towards the goal. I've also had a real jolt of motivation and inspiration as a result.
I want to thank you again for the webinars. You truly are an exceptional educator
Thanks so much - I have progressed more in the last few days that the last few months!
I liked very much the webinar, it was very constructive and gave me some really useful tips! I really enjoyed the exercise we did of constructing a convincing answer from scratch through the example driven technique, brilliant! And it was sort of reassuring hearing you say that perhaps the Theory requires less efforts and is less demanding then we provably think! 🙂 ( In contrast to the Practical!)
Your sessions last year on the practical and theory exams were invaluable to my preparation for the S1A. Because of your seminars, I finally understood what was expected and HOW to study. Unfortunately, the seminars I took were only one month before the exam, but in that month I was 100 times more effective in preparing and no longer felt like I was spinning my wheels.
