Prevention & Control of Vine Pests

Kendall Smith of Kendall Smith Vineyard Services – Comparing relative costs and benefits/negatives of fungicides in northern California. Sulphuric Dust is the least expensive at $20 per acre to apply; lasts 14 days but can have respiratory effects on workers and can burn the grapes when it gets hot. Wettable Sulphur is more expensive at $150-200 per acre and only lasts 7-10 days; but it doesn’t have those negatives. Quintec is a new product that costs $250 per acre but lasts 18 days and can treat botrytis. (IMW North American Seminar January 2017
