Health Issues Relevant to The Wine Industry

Health research UC Davis

According to UC Davis, Wine’s cardioprotective effect has been linked to the antioxidants present in the skin and seeds of red grapes. These antioxidants, such as flavonoids, may help prevent heart disease by increasing levels of good cholesterol, known as high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and protecting against artery damage. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Syrah and Pinot Noir, are among the wines with the highest concentrations of flavonoids. However, a research from Cambridge University claimed that DNA will be damaged by alcohol leading to cancer, especially people with face flushes red (6-10 times higher)
